I recently changed all the entries in my cell phone's phone book to "last_name first_name" because about half were "first_name last_name" and I was having difficulty looking up numbers efficiently. I'd just like to state, for the record, that I did not make this change just to have my sister's name appear "Looney Lauren." ;)
Here's an old picture of my dad with me and my little sister (showing off her teeth). One of my favorite memories from growing up is waking up (while my mom and sister slept in) on Saturday mornings, and going to McDonald's for pancakes with my dad. We ate and talked and got to know the other regulars. Happy memories. :)
I've always been told that having two eyes (instead of one) allows us to have depth perception. Thinking about that this morning has made me lose some respect for all the fictional heroes who have fought Cyclops.
Here is the way one person apparently chose to spend their money... it gave me a laugh, so I guess it may be worthwhile.
As I was driving to work this morning, I saw a license plate that read "FIZZIX" and did not get it until I sounded it out aloud. What the man driving beside me saw: She looks confused... she's squinting... she's talking to herself... she's laughing hysterically at what she said.
Firstborns found to have higher intelligence reads a headline describing an article (link probably won't work unless you have journal access) in Science. This article just confirms what I have known for a very long time. (Okay, so the scale on the figure makes it seem like more of a difference than it really is, but it's still significant.)
While Joe was trying on some t-shirts at Target tonight, I overheard a brief insight into another woman's life dilemmas. Imagine this in a young woman's voice: "Does this look too slutty? I won't wear the bra with it." Maybe it was a rhetorical question.
I have so many topics I'm behind on! We had a hail storm here in Texas on May 13th. I got a pretty good video of the hail. It looks neat popping up from the grass!
You will probably enjoy this video from the storm more... at least Joe gets a kick out of it. Yes, I was the one recording.
Okay, you probably don't want to know, but I feel like I shouldn't leave you hanging. The doctors haven't found what has been causing my pain. Now for what you were really more interested in after my last post: I had no pain at all whatsoever (or wheresoever) from the colonoscopy. I had "conscious sedation" but I don't remember a thing. From the time the nurse put the knock-me-out drugs in my IV, it was less than 3 minutes before I was out (I was actually watching a clock in the room... I know I'm a nerd). I didn't remember anything until well after it was all over, and even after I that slept for many, many hours before the drugs wore off. The only other detail I'm going to share about the procedure is that they gave me pictures afterwards. In color. Labelled. I will not post them. You're welcome.
